GET OUT
2D Video game - Unity
GET OUT is an intriguing 2D maze game that takes a simple concept and elevates it with a unique gameplay mechanic. In the game, the player guides an orange circle through a series of mazes by rotating arrows instead of directly controlling the character.
At the start, the character begins moving autonomously, either horizontally or vertically, and only switches direction upon encountering a wall, a locked door (represented by a green square), or an arrow. These arrows, represented as purple circles, can be rotated by the player to direct the character along the correct path, adding a layer of strategic complexity to the game.
Throughout the mazes, there are collectables that players need to gather in order to unlock doors and find their way out. It’s a game of foresight and planning - players need to think a move ahead to complete the game as fast as possible.
Developed using Unity and a Tilemap technique, GET OUT represents a significant achievement in game design and coding. Overcoming challenges in level design and C# scripting, the end product is a game that is not as easy as it looks, offering a rewarding experience for those who accept the challenge.
With GET OUT, I had the fulfilling experience of creating a game from A to Z, showcasing the possibilities that come from melding a simple idea with gameplay mechanics.
